Rhiannon is an artist currently living in South Wales who loves drawing portraits and capturing the individuality in her subjects. Although her interest in illustration began with traditional media and techniques, her current work is often a mix of traditional sketching and digital colouring. Rhiannon is very passionate about making illustration more accessible to adults, particularly through incorporating illustration into more mature literature.
Rhiannon's personal work consists of drawing portraits of characters she has created, people she knows and celebrities. She takes a very personal approach to these portraits and enjoys exploring the person's features, creating an image that represents their personalities as well as their physical appearances. She loves using bright colours and clean lines to give the portrait a crisp and bold look.
Lord of the Flies
When we consider narrative illustration, we think mainly of children's books. Rhiannon has taken the opportunity to illustrate a novel that features more mature and adult themes. Her illustrations for Lord of the Flies by William Golding explore the darker side of illustration, focusing on the gritty and violent elements of this novel in an effort to make illustration more accessible to adults other than in graphic novels and comics.
