Lucas Buchanan is a character design artist who works with gouache paint and pro create to develop their mixed media style. He brings life to his creations through playful colour palettes and funky designs which could suit a number of practices, and has a confident approach to line work.

This project is about character story and development. Lucas worked on a handful of characters to include in his gouache and digital illustrations that give off the feeling of a story without words. His colour palettes were particular per painting in ways that challenged himself.

Mary Poppins

Lucas took part in the Plum Awards, a competition run by Plum Pudding agency. They created a cover and two spreads depicting Mary poppins during the time of corona. Their entries focused on protective gear and designing the characters in a fun and playful way.
